Another good Saturday morning.
The hall was set up on the Saturday morning by a much smaller group than usual, John, Dave, Don, Keith & Kim were not available for various reasons, I was aware of this and got my set up done buy the time Andy arrived at 7.45am. Andy and I set up the other lathes by 8.30 quite comfortable, Dave arrived with the girls and set his gear up and by 9.00 the hall was full of eager juniors and helpers. 2 new faces this morning which was useful as a number of regulars had other commitments.
I was excited this morning as the final logo character created by young Kayleigh was ready, Angy had a cap and tee shirt with sewn and iron on ideas to show and all agreed it was brilliant. A good number of orders were taken so next meeting we should all look very smart.

It was an unusually quite casual morning compared to every other meeting, a number of juniors weren’t there and it showed, still lots going on though, the face for the scare crow was important and needed to get underway, I was so pleased to see Emily here today as she is very talented in this field, both Kayleigh and Emily set to sorting themselves out with what they needed, and as expected Emily got the eyes, hair and mouth done, brilliant job and done quite casually, both girls are doing a play at school together and were going through routines whilst painting.
Angy had flower pots and
the juniors created quite a stunning display in them, some on small round trays,
very effective and kept them busy all morning. Sam and Thomas were busy working
on a programme on the computer and David made an ash bowl with Eric, Keiran made
a small bowl with his dad supervising and David made pens and bottle stoppers
with Grant, Bill and Barbara, and young Chloe made an ox and yoke puzzle with
me. All in all it was a very productive morning with the usual mid morning break
for refreshments; the banana cake went very quickly, Angy managed the kitchen
this morning, thanks Angy.
Helper Kim had to work, sadly Ken isn’t to well at the moment (get well soon Ken) Don had other commitments and Dave was on holiday, despite this we still had a very productive morning so many thanks to all our helpers, must mention Ron on computer and Ross with pyrography, all the activities we have help to keep the juniors busy and give them choices, we present the opportunity and let them decide what they choose to do. 11 members here today all had a good time creating something from nothing and using their imagination. All to soon its time to pack up and with lots of helpers the hall is empty again, with very little supervision the girls painted the scare crow face and by the end of the morning they had cleaned all the equipment and left it tidy, well done Kayleigh and Emily, both realise its not all play there’s setting up and clearing away to be done and did it without being asked, brilliant, and there goes another brilliant junior meeting.
