Another good Saturday morning.

Autumn, don’t you just love those beautiful coloured leaves, for the past 3 or 4 weeks I’ve noticed them thinking “I must get some for Crafty Turners, surely somebody can make something interesting out of them” as usual it’s 16.30hrs the night before and I’ve still not collected any, but its not to late so I popped out quick and got red yellow etc of different shapes and spread them out in the lounge to dry, not a word from the wife thank goodness……………..

I spent the evening loading the van and trying to decide what the children might want to use tomorrow, so now I have just about everything in my van. Unloading in the morning was easy and dry, unlike last month this time I was set up before the meeting started, its our committee meeting time again, bout 10mins to sort that, young Kieran sorted the sew on badges info, looks like a good number of children want them.

Kieran has taken an interest in the treasurer’s job and is doing very well; he sorts most of the paying in each meeting and of coarse the new member forms, well its their club and anything they want to try we help them with it.

The 4 girls Dave brings had other things to do today sadly but we still had lots of busy boys and girls. The lathes are very busy at meetings now which is good, Dave did bud vases with Grant, Mike did tuition with Sam, and Ben…well Ben couldn’t make up his mind what to do, we went to Angy and I said “ young Ben doesn’t know what to do? “Fine” came the reply…”how about this”….”no”…”this”….”no” after a while I playfully bet with the girls at the table Angy couldn’t find anything he would like……But of coarse she did, Angy will always have something they will want to do.

Angy had 4 Pumpkins and set a challenge for the best carved one, some nice/horrible carving later and I made 2 choices, and so younger Kieran came over and made the final choice. Lucille the blacksmith’s dad was here today and helped a number of children make beautiful copper broaches, and Dave made a number of pens. Me, well I just went from place to place making sure everybody was happy.

I brought a load of beautiful coloured leaves and 2 small branches of twisted hazel, Alice and Cloe made a nice back drop with these plus 2 nice pieces of crotch wood and took a cool picture (see right).

Henry and Tom made pens and Tom used the leaves as a backdrop for a picture of his pen, very imaginative I though. New member Lucy was here for the first time today, she loved it, very nice young lady, full of spirit and enjoyed making a pen and a light pull, we won over football today, so maybe we’ll see her again, I very much hope so especially as she was so helpful when it came to tidying up at midday.

I suggested that each member had their own space on the web site, didn’t get to tell Ron till now but it got 2 or 3 to the computer doing stuff, Tilly was there writing which was a surprise to me, but that’s Tilly, she’s quite a character and there’s plenty more surprises to come Ill bet. Ros was here today in case we needed help in the kitchen doing marmalade, not to popular this project so mainly Sue and Ros I think, still it all sold and tasted very nice, somebody printed the nice labels.

Well that’s about it I think, stuff everywhere but as usual lots of help putting away and Sam and Nick gave me a hand to load the van, so the doors and windows checked and there goes another brilliant Crafty Turners meeting.
