Where/when we meet

Woodturning

What's new on this site

We meet on a Saturday morning starting at 9am and have three hours of fun making things.  The main activities are:-

  • Woodturning

  • Pyrography

  • Arts and Crafts

  • Documenting the activities each month on a computer

The majority of the members are from age 8 upwards, with a few special needs adults.  The remainder are adults who enjoy woodturning or arts and crafts and interacting with the members.

The Club had its first meeting on 21st July 2007 and has met every month since.  It has been a hectic  time.  We have created loads of items, learnt a considerable amount in the process and above all WE HAVE HAD LOTS OF FUN!!

Achievements include:

  • Creating many different items, as demonstrated in the range of items portrayed in the picture gallery

  • Creating this web site, which gets bigger after each meeting

  • Creating an entry for the 2009 and 2010 Hayling Island Scarecrow Festival

  • Enjoying a considerable amount of Heather Giles' banana cake (click here for the recipe)

  • Demonstrating to adults that young people are incredibly creative, fun to work with and we have many skills that we are happy to pass on.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU in particular to Mick Giles and to everybody else who has contributed to the success of the Club.
