Spindle Turning

Spindle turning is where the grain of the wood runs along the item being made.  A range of items made using this technique are shown below:

The grain is vertical. The grain is horizontal and can be clearly seen The grain is horizontal

Spindle and faceplate turning can be combined in a project.  A typical example is a stool, where the legs are spindle turned and the seat is faceplate turned.
