Woodturning

What's new on this site

Wood turning, is basically face plate or spindle turning. We mainly do spindle turning at the club but we can do face plate if we want to. We turn simple things that appeal to us. Kim, one of our Saturday helpers (who is very clever and inspirational), is the one who comes up with the designs.  In the past we have made mice, bugs, plates, penguins, money boxes, coin bowls and much, much more!! We have a choice of what we turn, which is the best bit of the whole club.

Wooden lighthouse on a painted concrete base and mounted on blue card. The lighthouse is spindle turned.

Penguin.  The head and body are both spindle turned.

A mouse money box.  The head is spindle turned.

Winged candle holder - a good example of faceplate turning.
